Inaugural Short Course on Helicopter Design for ISE Aerospace Students.
Inaugural Short Course on Helicopter Design for ISE Aerospace Students. Bangkok, 10 August 2025 – Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Engineering (Chula Engineering), in partnership with the Vertical Flight Society (VFS), has successfully wrapped up the Inaugural Short Course on Helicopter and VTOL Design – an intensive programme designed to prepare Aerospace Engineering students for the upcoming VFS Student Design Competition 2025. The five-day course, held from 6–10 August 2025, was led by Dr Arvind Sinha, President of the VFS Australia Chapter. A globally recognised authority in vertical flight technology and aircraft design, Dr Sinha shared invaluable real-world expertise and mentored more than 40 Aerospace Engineering students, equipping them with both technical skills and industry perspective. The closing ceremony on Sunday 10 August was presided over by Assoc. Prof. Witaya Wannasuphoprasit, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. In his remarks, the Dean hailed the initiative as “a model for international academic collaboration that bridges theory and application, helping to equip our students for global competition and innovation.” Dr Auraluck Pichitkul, FHEA, Chair of the Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering (International Program) at Suranaree University of Technology and President of the VFS Thailand Chapter, presented certificates to the participants and praised their dedication and creativity throughout the course. Special appreciation was also extended to Wg. Cdr. Jiravud Klongtrujrok, Ph.D., Vice President of the VFS Thailand Chapter, for his steadfast guidance and support to the students during the programme. This pioneering short course underscores Chula Engineering’s commitment to fostering hands-on learning, strengthening industry-academic links, and connecting Thai students to the global vertical flight community. It also marks the beginning of a stronger connection between Chulalongkorn University and the global vertical flight community.
