Microsoft APAC Virtual AI for Accessibility Hackathon
Together, let’s harness the power of AI to amplify human capability, with and for the more than one billion people around the world with a disability! On Friday, October 16, 2020, Microsoft APAC will kick-off a month of hacking with its first Virtual AI for Accessibility hackathon for our business partners, developers, start-ups and universities in 11 countries. The goal is for teams to develop prototypes of AI solutions that can transform the daily life, employability and communication for people with disabilities. Each team can include up to 5 members. Every team member is invited to register using this link. You will help solve, ideate and hack on real problem statements identified by local nonprofit partners and government representatives provided on the website. Alternatively, participants may also address an accessibility challenge of their own. The teams unearthing the best insight and developing the best solution prototypes will get a chance to get guidance from Microsoft to apply for an AI for Accessibility grant to bring their idea to reality along with other amazing prizes to be won. The event will be covered on social media and be captured through a video that we will broadcast after the hackathon!
How students can prepare for opportunities during the pandemic
Introduction There is no doubt that the pandemic has taken the world by surprise. For the past few months, we’ve been forced to really adjust our way of living, and most importantly, how we work. While we adjust to the new normal. Companies all around the world rely heavily on smart devices for effective communication and efficient work. Another aspect of future employment is the inevitability of remote work as its benefits clearly outweigh its losses. We're thrilled to present an exclusive discussion between our esteem representative from Line, Foodpanda, Grab, and Chulalongkorn University. Who will share their insights on how students can prepare for opportunities during the pandemic About this event This is open to anyone, whether you are students, graduates, or working professionals. The discussion will highlight: How have companies implemented the use of technology to enhance the experience of current, and potential, employees? More importantly, how can graduate students find their ideal work experience to make them competitive in the employment market? What the audience can expect: What companies look for in students, during the pandemic era How are the featured companies adapting to facilitate work during the pandemic. What is the market of employment like, and how can graduate students adjust to working in the “new normal”. *Note: the group discussion will be in English. Bachelor of Engineering Program in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Engineering (International Program)
Bachelor of Engineering Program in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Engineering (International Program) Robotics and artificial intelligence engineering is an interdisciplinary engineering field that combines principles of mechanical, electrical, computer, system, and mechatronics engineering. It covers the advanced machine design with a computer-based controller, which is the mechatronics system concept. The advanced machine design with the advanced automatic control design would increase the system mechanism performance. Moreover, electrical engineering, computer-based automatic control, and artificial intelligence algorithm would enhance the system to be more intelligent and be able to complete complicated tasks. Robotics and artificial intelligence engineering focuses on the advanced machine design, manufacturing process, and maintenance process consisting of mechanisms and electronic system. Thus, the system can be automatically operated and work with high precision. This system consists of system or plant, actuators, sensors, controllers, and intelligence. Therefore, robotics and artificial intelligence engineer would learn the knowledge on these components as well as industrial standard, industrial safety standard, and management process to effectively use the advanced machines. Robotics and artificial intelligence engineer can also work in manufacturing industry which adopts the advanced robots and automation process, as they have the knowledge of machinery design and computer. Moreover, they can work on international/domestic research and development area and other areas such as 1. Mechatronics engineer 2. Mechanical engineer in modern industry 3. Artificial intelligence and computer engineer 4. Electrical engineer in modern industry 5. Machine design and control engineer 6. Precision machine design engineer 7. Automotive and automation engineer 8. Maintenance engineer and etc. CURRICULUM
